HOW DO I...
MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
Appointments can be made by telephone, visiting reception during opening hours or via this website (details from reception). Doctors’ and nurses’ time is precious. Please always keep your appointment or contact us in good time if you will be unable to attend. Patients are welcome to choose which surgery they wish to attend, but we ask that you only contact and use the surgery you have chosen for all appointments and general enquiries because this will be where your records are held. When booking an appointment you are free to request one with the doctor of your choice. You may expect to be offered one so long as there are vacancies.
The Marches run an 'Advanced Access' appointment system. Its main features are:
- It is designed so that we can guarantee that every
patient will be seen on the day of their choice including the same day.
- However, we cannot always offer an appointment on
the same day both at a time of your choice and/or with a particular doctor. We are aware that many people
like to be seen out of work hours but it is not possible for us to always satisfy this demand.
- A number of of appointments can be booked up to two weeks in
advance with a doctor of your choice.
- The remainder are only bookable on
the day from 8.30am.
- Our aim is “to do today's work today” and prevent
waiting lists building up.
- If all the pre-bookable appointments have been taken, you will
be invited to ring up on the morning that you wish to be seen and you will be given an appointment.
You will always be seen that day if you so wish.
- We no longer designate appointments as being
either 'routine' or 'urgent'; rather they are described as either 'pre-bookable' or 'book on the day'.
However, we would hope to receive your call as early in the day as possible please, rather than
at the last minute.
You can also now book your appointment on-line - click here to book an appointment now.
HOW DO I...
OBTAIN HOME A VISIT?
Please phone your usual surgery (Broughton patients call 520615; Buckley patients call 550939) before 10.00am if possible.
Home visits are reserved for patients who are too ill to attend surgery. If you believe that a visit is required urgently, please say so. Home visits
are extremely time consuming and we generally follow the guidelines laid down
by NHS Wales, which has approved the following:
- GP visit recommended to terminally ill and bed-bound patients.
- A GP visit may be useful in cases of chest pain, severe shortage of
breath and severe bleeding.
If a GP is informed that a patient
has symptoms that suggest a heart attack, the sensible approach may be to dial
999 and call an emergency paramedic ambulance rather than attending your surgery.
HOW DO I...
OBTAIN TEST RESULTS?
Please only telephone the surgery after 3.00pm to enquire about test results. Your doctor will let you know how long it
usually takes results to be returned to us. Please note that X-ray results take up to two weeks; cervical smear results
usually take between one to two months.
